Our Family
Origins
Our parent company, Chaparral Honey Inc,, began in Escondido, California on Orange Street. They moved to a rural town called Valley Center, as Escondido grew into a more urban city. Since around 1989, Chaparral Honey Inc, has been operating all over San Diego County, Imperial County, and some spots in Riverside County. In 2024, two of the four owners decided, instead of selling their company’s honey to a large national co-op, they wanted to start marketing and selling directly to the people of their community. So, Greg Pile and two of his daughter’s and their families decided to create the brand Cool Valley Honey. We all have different roles, from taking phone calls, to pouring honey, to managing social media pages and everything in between. It’s very much a family affair all the way from the beehive to when it’s handed to the customer. We take great pride in our ability to have laid eyes, and hands, on every step of the process of getting it there.
All of our honey is local to southern California. It has been taken from the colony, extracted from the frame, cleaned of debris, and put into bottles and jars without any pasteurization, additions, or alterations. We hope, as you enjoy your honey, you can feel the love and care we put into the bees and the product and that you’ll keep supporting our family in our new adventure. Thank you for trusting Cool Valley Honey!
The Patriach and Matriarch
Greg and Kim have lived their lives involved in agriculture for over 45 years. Before it was beekeeping, it was organic farming, so their wealth of knowledge is vast. Doing this business as a family has allowed them to further share their love for agriculture with their kids' kids and to their community.
Helping Hands
At Cool Valley Honey we get the privilege of sharing the incredible process of harvesting, packaging and selling honey with our future generations. The children of this family have spent time watching how bees pollinate, helping grandma with the labels and even helping sell honey at the booth when we set up for markets. We are proud to provide our community with the best product, made with a labor of love from our family to yours.
